Cellular Confiment System
The cellular confinement system is highly flexible—it can be folded during transportation and stretched into a three-dimensional grid with a honeycomb structure during construction. It can be filled with materials such as concrete, gravel, or planting soil to form a robust structural body with strong lateral confinement and stiffness, restricting and constraining the filler material (planting soil) from both planar and vertical dimensions in space. Its extensibility helps reduce vertical and horizontal stresses from erosion on the planting soil and vegetation, while enhancing shear resistance between soil particles, thereby forming a continuous and flexible three-dimensional structure.
Introduction
The cellular confinement system is a new type of high-strength geosynthetic material, which is a three-dimensional honeycomb-like cellular system formed by ultrasonic pin welding based on conventional geocells combined with polymer nanocomposites alloy.It is also called gravel stabilizer in road construction.
Feature
The cellular confinement system exhibits excellent mechanical properties and high resistance to thermal aging. After thermal oxidation testing, its tensile yield strength may decrease by up to 30% at 70°C, ensuring a service life of over 50 years. Additionally, the material demonstrates stable chemical corrosion resistance, with strong acid and alkali resistance, making it suitable for various fill materials.All these features help cellular confinement system has a good soil stabilization properties.
