Its structure is polyester geogrid glutted with nonwoven geotextile,usually polyester staple fiber needle punched geotextile or filament nonwoven geotextile.Sometimes it is made by stitching polyester geogrid and nonwoven geotextile,then they undergo a treatment of immersing in glue.

How Does the Composite Work? (The Synergy)

 

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Here's how they work together in a typical application like a road base:

 

1. The nonwoven geotextile faces the soft, fine-grained subsoil.

2. It immediately acts as a separator, preventing the subgrade soil from pumping up into the aggregate base course.

3. It simultaneously acts as a filter, allowing pore water pressure from the subsoil to dissipate through it into the base layer without washing out fine soil particles.

4. The polyester geogrid is embedded within or placed just above the aggregate base course.

5. As load is applied (e.g., from construction traffic or the final road), the aggregate interlocks with the geogrid's apertures. This "mechanical interlock" creates lateral confinement, effectively stiffening the entire base layer.

6. The geogrid absorbs the tensile stresses, spreading the load over a much larger area and reducing the pressure on the weak subgrade.
